Involving the other (interactive media and performances)
being aware that I do not hold all knowledge, I try to find ways to involve the other in my works or to give them some space to add their own input
installation, 2024
Topfschlagen is an installation referring to a German children’s game in which a blindfolded person crawls on the floor hitting around them with a wooden spoon, looking for a metal pot that hides a treasure underneath it, the surrounding people guide the player by indicating if they get closer or further.
Pots hung on three walls. The first wall had a metal pot and a wooden spoon hanging on there that were used to play the game with the audience.
The second wall had 5 ceramic pots hanging above receipt-like prints of illustrations and poems about meals with friends.
The third wall had another ceramic pot and illustration on it and another note indicating to the audience that the prints were referring to the artist's current treasures and that they could print out their own and add them to the wall.
video game, 2023
Iris is a visual novel about a young florist who wakes up one day with a skewed sense of perception which makes it difficult for her to read people’s facial expressions and body language. She will have to find other ways of communicating and understanding her colleagues and customers.
It explores the way Iris’ assumptions affect her social interactions and how a difference in internal perception can shift our relation to the world outside as well.

performance, 2019
This performance consisted of me asking the audience to share their feelings or thoughts with me by writing or drawing on paper notes which I then put on a transparent coat that I wore. Underneath the coat, I was wearing a black dress I sewed that had embroideries on its skirt. The embroideries were small self portraits with short sentences in French, German, English and Dutch about how I felt during that time. I offered the audience my vulnerability as a first step to encourage them to share their vulnerability with me in return.
